Eff Your Beauty Standards

 

 

Recently in the media there has been a very surprising slash of plus size models, the main one being Tess Holliday. She has been around for a while and was one of my biggest inspirations when it came to wanting to be a plus size model. I have Tess on instagram and when she's at shoots or events she posts pictures of her makeup (which is always to die for), so I thought why not do a recreation of a Tess Holliday look. What I thought of doing as I do a Pixiwoo recreation at least once a month, I'm now going to do a Tess Holliday recreation look as well!!

To start off my stream of Tess Holliday recreations I've gone for this flirty pink lip with a bold blue Smokey eye look!.

Now I know there are some differences as mine and Tess' features and skin tone are not the same however, I do really like this look and I definitely need to wear this on nights out more often.

 

 

This is my finished look. I changed a few of the colours slightly but other than that I'm pretty in love with this look. When I recreate a look I always try and do it justice but at the same time but my own personal twist on it and I feel this one has been successful.

A Feel Good Attitude

 

I'm sure over the years we've all seen a fabrication of a lot of diets and regimes to loose weight and to restore our health to a point where we are happy with ourselves. I myself have tried extremes to none extremes to loose weight and I've finally found the thing that I lacked in my previous attempts.

Recently Sam Smith brought Amelia Freer to our attention. Amelia is a nutritionist and is all about the natural way of living i.e. no processed foods. I as anyone should before starting a diet researched Amelia to know her back ground and her way of thinking when it came to healthy eating. I decided to purchase Amelia's book (Eat Nourish Glow) and I couldn't of made a better choice. There are so many things that we are fundamentally used to when it comes to eating because they have been brought upon us as a easy way out of cooking(microwave meals and fast foods).

The book completely changes your relationship with food. I now don't just think, what can I shove in my gob to shut my stomach up from rumbling. Now I take my time to plan meals, I marinate my meat, I try and thing of delicious veg to grill to put with my meat. Now when I have food on my mind it isn't junk food its purely meal prep.

I've seen a difference in my attitude, energy and my mood in just a week just because I've changed my way of eating, which I never thought I would be able to do. I never have to just go to the fridge and stand there for 10 minutes and figure out what's quickest to cook because now I have already prepped it the night before! all it takes me now is just cooking time. In all honesty I love cooking, baking mostly but cooking none the less.

I've found my love for food again in a healthy way and I have Amelia Freer to thank for that!

ITS ALL ABOUT THAT MOTIVATION

 

Well I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year, When it is New Year I always use it as an excuse to reflect on the previous year/years. Today I saw a picture of me from about 1 1/2 years and I couldn't believe my eyes! I was astounded at the size I looked and how I could let myself personally get like that.

 

 I would love to have an excuse or a reason or even someone else to blame for my weight gain but it all truthfully boils down to me being lazy and over eating.

 

The photo that is displayed below is to show you what determination and a bit or willingness can do. The photo on the right clearly displays that I wasn't willing to do anything, I would rather of sat in my bed and ate all year round, until I had a reality check when I originally saw this picture.

 

The photo on the left was take 1 month ago, putting these pictures together side by side really motivates me and gets me in the mood to get back on track after the festive indulgent season. The difference between the photos in weight is 3 1/2 stone which might not be much to some people but it is a massive milestone for me. I cant wait to get back to the gym and working out again because I've forgotten what it feels like to feel the burn of progress!

 

 

I will be blogging my progress through out the year, how I work out and what I eat.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection

 

Recently the Real Techniques sisters Nic and Sam have been talking about a very exciting new project they are bringing out, as soon as I saw the tweets I was very much into the process of finding out what. The 2 sisters are very good at keeping their projects a secret and not letting anything slip so as you can imagine, I found nothing.

 

When they announced the product was going to be brushes I honestly didn't now what to think, I didn't really hang on to the fact that they were still bringing a new brush out as I thought they were just going to be the same stems, stands and neck as the others. How wrong I was with that assumption, definitely way off the mark with that one.

 

Every time I look at the brushes I get very excited and it instantly put me in the mood for makeup, and that takes an awful lot if I'm not at work. The cleanness and the cut of the brush in my opinion is perfect, The only brushes I will use for makeup is Real Techniques and for them to make a collection of brushes like this, personally I think they have excelled themselves. I am very proud to use and purchase their products.

2014 Rewind

 

For todays post I thought I would do what every blogger in the world is probably doing !!. I feel like its a great time to reflect on the year, what I've gained and what I've lost and learned.

 

Here is a picture to show you briefly what happened in my 2014.

I started Younique | I got my confidence back with photography | I went blonde

I found my love for beauty again | one of my god children turned 1 | I started riding horses

I got a dog called Abel | I got a tone of amazing baking stuff for Christmas | I lost 3 stone!

 

 

2014 Has a few very low points for me, I was in a very dark place at the beginning of summer. When autumn came things started looking up, I started my therapy, started a new job and life was looking good! The job I had at that point I didn't really like so I'm glad that I left, I am much happier not working for that company. The day I left that company I started the job I have now the next day, I can honestly say I am so happy now!

 

All I can hope is that 2015 is more good than bad and that goes for you too !!

I've been on board with Younique now since the 27th of November and id just like to say the response I've had, is astounding! I definitely underestimated the Younique business and thought that it isn't really worth the hype UNTIL! I received my kit and tried the products for myself. The pigment to the product is incredible, the primer makes my face feel silky soft and the fibre lashes.............well they are a god send!

 

When I first heard about the fibre lashes I thought to myself, people cant honestly be believing this! but the truth is there is something to believe in, I can say that this product have definitely stopped me buying useless lashes. The length and volume you can see build is simply remarkable and is completely on your terms!.

Time To Get Personal

 

I realise that this blog title may be a little bit misleading (its not that type of personal).

 

Its all about Christmas is the month of december and because ive been spending alot of time with my god children, i thought i would do something that was a little more personal to them and in general and not just a toy that they might get bored with.

 

I was only able to spring this idea up by working for the company that sell the teddys that can be embroidered. If you are wondering the company is called Cubbies.

 

There was a wide selection of limited christmas cubbies to chose from and because i love penguins i went for a theme of penguins with the stockings and teddys.

The picture below is of the cubies and stockings i ordered, I love them and they make me feel all fuzzled everytime i look at them.

 

 

 

Personally i think Presents that are a little more personal have a little more centimentality and make it a little more special but thats just my opinion.

100DC - Day 1

Today is my first day on the 100 day diet challenge, If you would like to read my previous post on explaining what this is click HERE.

Todays meals - Breakfast - 1 cup or granola
Lunch - garlic and herb chicken and veg
Snacks - 3 almond rounds and 6 Jaffa cakes (naughty Lucy!)
Dinner - Chicken pesto pasta

Working in an office for 8 hours a day, I find it hard to get a decent work out in. Any chance I get to get out of the office and run errands, I do it. Today I walked 3 miles, to and from work and then walking the dog when I got home. Now im going to do 50 squats and 20 sit ups. Im building up my workout as I've not worked out in a long time!.

I would love to know if any of you are doing this challenge along side me or even if your already doing it let me know how you are doing!.

100 Day Diet Challenge!

100 Day Diet Challenge

 

 

So today my friend asked me why I don't diet anymore, and my answer was both shameful and inexcusable. My answer was, because I couldn't be bothered. When I heard the words come out of my mouth I felt like I have let myself down, I had no excuse for not keeping up with my diet and exercise, except laziness.

 

I recently read an article on the daily mail, all about the 100 day challenge. This challenge can be interpreted as you please. Its entirely up to you what your goal is at the end of the 100 days, from dieting to happiness or even confidence. 

 

The goal I've chosen is weight loss.

I am currently 18.8 stone and my goal is 13 to 15 stone

 

To some people that might be wishful thinking but to me its my goal. Everyday for the next 100 days I will be uploading my progress of what I've done through the day and what I think I have achieved in the day and how my mood has been ext.

 

so here is to the next 100 days of this journey and I hope you join me on it and maybe join in yourself!.

Donatella versace pixiwoo recreation !

Donatella Versace Pixiwoo Recreation

 

This week sam chapman (pixiwoo) uploaded a Donatella Versace makeup tutorial, click here to see the magic of Pixiwoo and be sure to subscribe to her channel.

 

I really liked this look even though it is a very heavy eye, which I don't always go for. Recreating this look was a treat, which is always the case when recreating a Pixiwoo look.

 

I didn't have the same stuff as Sam but I coped ok and still created what I thought was a pretty good match.

 

Base

MAC face and body foundation, with collection 2000 translucent powder and MUA bronzer.

 

Eyes

I used sleek oh so special palette for the eyes

I used bow for a base (substitute for m4 in smashbox full exposure)

On the mobile lid and underneath I used boxed (substitute for M1 in smashbox full exposure)

Along the lash line I used Noir along with blending to the side and a little underneith (substitute for M7 in smashbox full exposure)

On the upper and lower lash line I used Avon shock gel eyeliner

Mascara I used rimmel scandaleyes extreme black on the top, on the bottom I used MAC giga play in black.

 

 

 Lips

 

For the lips I used Avon pink pucker plumping pout

 

 

 

And that is how I recreated Pixiwoos Donatella Versace makeup !!

New Youtube Video !!!!

Yesterday i posted a new YouTube video! Ive never been more proud of myself because ive been kind of absent with the whole making videos speel. This one took along time to make, I just kept messing up and always saying why am I doing this. Then I realised when I got into it I really enjoyed making the video, there are alot of bloopers and I think bloopers at the end of a video always make it funny and give a sense of reality to the video with mistakes.

Avon Luxe Couture Creme Lip Gloss

This is a product what when I read about it I was very excited to order, it was spoken very highly of and everyone loved it. Unfortunately for me it didn't show its fullest potential and im not a fan.

I was quite disappointed in the product overall really. It isn't nice to apply, there is hardly any pigment there at all and the applicator seems to bring out hardly any ligloss so it takes quite along time to apply 

I do realise that this review isnt the nicest, or you may not agree but i just want to stress that this is my opinion and you are entitled to you own as well as mine.

Product Review - Avon Luxe Palette

Avon Luxe Eyeshadow Palette 

I recently ordered 2 luxe palettes from Avon. This is the first review and the second one will be on tomorrow at the same time!!.

This is a collection of make up products in Avon. It is a little on the cheap side but its well worth it in my opinion.

 I actually really enjoy using this palette as I'm a huge neutrals fan. I think the applicators that come with is aren't the best but when have sponge applicators been any ones favourite thing to apply make up with!  

I don't use all the colours at once but i like to always put the middle colour in the inner corners of the eyes on any look I'm doing. For just £10 i think this is a steal of a product and one that's not meant to be missed. It doesn't crease fade or move for the duration you wear it, its one that is now a permanent tenant in my make up bag !!

Product Review - Bourjois Healthy Mix Gel Foundation

Product Review

Today I'm writing a review about a product has had alot of rant and rave about it recently. Its the Bourjois healthy mix gel foundation

Ive tried alot of foundations recently because I could not find one that made me feel like my skin nice, soft and even. Every time I tried a new foundation I found that it would match my forehead and not my neck or vise verse, it is very irritating to say the least.

this foundation makes me feel very confident in my make up and that it is going to stay on all day and that the base looks very natural. the formula is a nice texture and when its applied its very easily blended and doesn't leave a sticky residue. It doesn't make me break out where ive found that alot of others do and it feels weightless when its on the skin. 

This in my eyes is a faultless foundation and hopefully it wont get discontinued but just to be sure im going to be buying 2 more bottles seen as its only £10 a bottle what more can you ask for !!!

In my opinion its a beauty bargain and one that's not to be missed!!

The Beauty Of Makeup

Well for some reason it feels like ages since ive blogged !!. 

Well today, as bored i get on most days! i sat on my sofa and had a little thought. Why not try out my new sleek palette. Also i wanted to do a before and after picture just to show what a transformation with the right application, makeup alone can do.

This is defo my go-to makeup. I love the light lip look !! its my favorite at the minute.

LUCY GETS FITTER

Glitter Gets Fitter

The start of this month i said to myself, 'i want to be skinnier by next year', 'i want to be skinny' and i thought no, what i really want is to be fitter and be able to go for a run with my friends of a fitter physic. 

I have always been big, when there's food there id eat it no matter how much or little of it there is. Last year i noticed that i could do things that id like to because my weight and physical state was stopping me. Coming to terms with needing to loose weight and eating less has been a big struggle for me and now is my stopping point!!. 

One of my favorite youtubers Louise has started a daily routine of half an hour brisk walking with a motivational hashtag to get others involved. I feel this is going make ALOT of people want to do a brisk 30 min walk to doing an hours workout a day not just to get fitter but to also lose weight. 

Over christmas is my downfall, i would eat so much chocolate and junk food and use the excuse of 'its christmas' but this year was different. I didn't eat any chocolates or any cheese, the only thing that i ate that was a big portion was my christmas dinner. Not gonna lie i was very proud of myself!. I have also started to do a smoothie diet type thing. I would have a bowl of porridge in the morning and then half a can of soup with 2 crackers for dinner and a veggie and fruit smoothie for dinner. I feel amazing i feel like i have more energy, i feel like i can actually do a 1 hour workout routine and feel ok after it and not need a nap. 

heres a few snaps of my smoothie from today !

Ingredients

1 cup of kale

  1 whole avocado

1 cup of blueberries

1 cup of raspberry's

1 cup of spinach

half a pineapple

juice of a whole lime

juice of a whole lemon

a cup of water

 and a dash of salt

It does look a little bit look mud, but it tastes so refreshing and so nice!. i have this every day for my tea and i love it !!, you can find all the ingredients in any supermarket and it costs about 20 pounds per 3 days!

This new years i thought i would for a subtle look, in the passed its been really bold and im wearing a black and white dress with gold accessories. I'm hoping that this look will go with what i am wearing and look subtle in pictures.  

My hair is going to be curled with a half updo or a french braid in my fringe and a curled updo to the lower side.

RECREATION OF PIXIWOOS RECREATION!

So i don't normally do recreations of of recreation looks as i like to come up with my own looks but this one i couldn't keep away from!. 

The Pixiwoo channel is just amazing, they so so much stuff that beauty related and i love it!. They do party makeup, Halloween makeup, basics and celebrity makeup from A to Z

The look i have recreated is the Rihanna M.A.C Makeup tutorial from Pixiwoo. I don't really thing ive captured it to the fullest potential i could of but im still writing this post because i just loooove this look !!

The makeup they've yous'd is MAC makeup but as i don't earn alot of money im not really the person that can afford MAC products.

I do realise that mine and nics base colours are completely different. I really enjoyed creating this look, obviously nics is (alot) better than mine and im in no way trying to out do her because that wouldn't happen in a million years!.
